Athletic Update

The following post is from Athletics Director, Larry Rooney:

Baseball: The Milton High Baseball Team made tournament this year, but lost 3-2 in the first round of the MIAA DII South Sectional Tournament.  They ended their season with a final record of 11-10.

Girls Tennis:  The team made it the first round of the MIAA DII South Sectional MIAA Tournament, but lost to Falmouth High School.

Boys Tennis: The team qualified for the DII South Sectional Tournament, but lost to Sharon High School in the first round.

Boys Track:
All States: The boys relay team of Koby Osazee, David Perkins, Ludwig Frederique and Derek Perkins finished the season as the second-best 4×100 relay team in the state at the All State Track Meet at Fitchburg State University on Saturday, June 6th.  The team came close to being the top team in the state, losing the state title by .03 of a second, but breaking the school record with a time of 42:80.  The relay team qualified to compete in The New England Interscholastic Track Outdoor Championship this Saturday, June 13th in Saco Maine. Senior Kingston Iwuala earned 9th place in the boys’ high jump with a height of 6-02.00

States: This relay team won first place at the MIAA D3 State Track Meet on June 2nd.  At this meet, David Perkins finished fourth in the 200m and Derek Perkins finished third in the 100m dash.  Kingston Iwuala was also D3 state champion, placing first in the high jump and Myles McDermott took fifth place.  The boys’ 4 x 800 m relay team consisting of Colin Keeley, Kyle Dempsey and John Lenane finished in fourth place.

Girls Track: 
All States: Members of the girls track team also competed at the All-State Meet in Fitchburg.   Sophomore Colette O’Leary placed 8th in the state for the 800 meter with a time of 2:17. Freshman Bridget Mitchell placed 15th in the mile with a time of 5:17.14. The 4×400 relay placed 14th with a time of Milton 4:05.20. The relay was comprised of Seniors Emma Pred Sosa & Zion Theodros, Junior Alexis Belash and Sophomore Colette O’Leary. Sophomore Abigail Jean-Baptiste placed 19th in the long jump with a 16-01.25. Senior Andrea Juzyca also placed 19th in the javelin with a throw of 105-05.

States: Team members also scored extremely well at the MIAA D3 State Meet at Durfee High School on June 3nd.  At this meet, Abigail Jean-Baptiste earned 5th place in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 12.95.  Zion Theodros placed 9th in the 400 meter with a time of 61.40.  Colette O’Leary won first place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17. Bridget Mitchell earned second place in the mile with a time of 4:59.54 and also placed fourth in the two mile with a time of 11:21.52. The girls 4×800 relay earned third place; the 4×100 relay earned 6th place; the 4×400 got 5th place; Andrea Juzyca earned second place in the javelin with a throw of 125-10. In the Pentathalon event, Jesse Iwala got 4th place, Isabel Belash got 6th place, Oceane  Marescal got 9th place and Savannah Madden got 11th place.
