GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
Despite the 4-7 league record, the Girls Cross Country team just finished third out of 22 teams at a state-wide invitational and are currently ranked 7th in the State. Milton High Girls Cross Country finished 6th out of 9 schools at the Bay State Cross Country Championships in Norwood this past weekend. Bridgett Mitchell finished 3rd and Colette O’Leary finished 4th in the varsity race.
BOYS CROSS COUNTRY
The boys cross country team finished with a record of 3 & 8. Fifteen boys competed in the Bay State League Championship on Saturday in Norwood. Freshman Nick Villard finished third and Shane Berry finished eleventh in the freshman race. Tim Lynch, John Lenane and Kevin Conway were the top finishers in the varsity race. Seven of the boys will be competing in the State Divisional Championship on November eighth.
The Field Hockey Season record is 1-15-2. The team played four great games within the past two weeks. The team tied Brookline 1-1, and tied Natick 0-0. They played very well and cohesively as a team. Defense has had a tremendous impact on and off the field, leading with Captains and incredible goalie, with Meghan McDougall, Hope McDonald, Shannon Fitzgerald and Emme Cronin. At the game against Brookline, Milton scored a beautiful corner shot from Morgan Begley and scoring from Monica Woods. At the game against Norwood Ani Gaden scored two outstanding goals for Milton. During the Night game against Natick, Milton came out ready to play and had a great game offensive and defensive game. The midfield carried the game with ease and intensity with Monica Woods, Morgan Begley, and Kate Driscoll. Milton ended the game with a tie and without a score, but they played great! End-of-the-season losses to Wellesley and Dedham were difficult losses, but the team has truly come together at the end of the season. The girls have continued to gain skills and to go into each game with confidence and endurance. Senior Jaquelin Losi was a BSC 2nd team Honorable Mention selection.
The team celebrated Dig Pink night and Senior Night on Thursday October 23rd in high fashion with a big win over Wellesley. CEO and founder of the Sideout Foundation, Rick Dunetz made the trip up from Virginia to address the crowd along with James Jette and State Representative Walter Timility. With the efforts of the school community and the parents, the team was able to raise close to $4,000.00
The team won the first round of the MIAA Central Div 2 Volleyball Tournament last night, beating St. Peter Marian of Worcester 3-0. They will take on #2 Dedham this Monday in Canton.
The Milton High School Football team wrapped up its regular season with a record of 2-5. Four of the five losses for Milton have come against teams that are ranked in the top 25 in the state. The loss to Wellesley on Friday, October 24, 2014 nullified the opportunity to play in the DIII MIAA Football Playoffs. Milton will play 3 additional non-qualifying games starting this Saturday, November 1st vs Hingham HS at 1pm at Brooks Field. Milton will play its Thanksgiving game vs Braintree at Braintree High School on Thursday, November 27th.
Milton has been consistently playing tough defense holding Wellesley, Walpole and Natick to their lowest totals of the season powered by the efforts of Seniors Liam Queally and Ugo Nwanekezi; Juniors Akeem Smith and Devon Nzepuome; and Sophomore Omar Frazier. The offense has shown flashes of power and skill by Senior backs Jonathan Pierre, Mariano Davis and Alex Toyias; Junior receivers Ludwig Frederique and Scott Cummings; and Junior Quarterback Mike Fallon. The Offensive Line has been anchored by Junior standout Jack Clifford; along with Seniors Kaleb Herd, Matt McCarthy and Jake Fransesconi.
The golf team finished the season with a league record of 9-6-1 overall, with 8-2-1 League record. Milton High competed in the Bay State Conference Championship and MIAA DII South Sectional. Lloyd Hill finished 2nd with a round of 71, qualifying him for DII State Championships at The Glen Ellen Country Club, where he shot an 84 and placed 21st in the State of Massachusetts of DII High School Golf.

The Fall cheerleaders cheered on the Varsity and JV football teams. They are preparing for their competition season that begins at the end of October. They are lead by Captains Daysia Fox and Madelyn Driscoll. The Bay State Cheer competition will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Braintree High School.
The MHS Girls Soccer team finished the season with a record of 8 wins and 9 losses. This qualifies the girls varsity team for the DII MIAA tournament. Tournament games have yet to be determined. The first tournament game is expected to be played on Sunday, November 2, 2014. Junior Sophie Cousineau finished the regular season with 11 goals, 9 assists and 20 points to lead the Herget Division of the BSC. Chae Diani had 9 goals, 6 assists, and 15 pints, followed by Kendall Stanley with 6 goals, 5 assists, and 11 points.
