Over the last month, Mr. Mackinaw and I have had the chance to hold an assembly with each of the grade levels to present the Milton Public Schools' bullying and harassment prevention plan. [Here is the prezi that we used for the presentation: MPS Bullying and Harassment Prevention.] Some students wonder why we do these presentations every year. One answer is that bullying is a continuous, on-going issue that we will always need to address. Holding these assemblies gives us a chance to discuss some of the realities of bullying - for example, what bullying behavior looks like today and how each one of us plays a part in preventing it. The assemblies also give us a chance to remind students of what they can do to support each other and how to seek help.
Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month? Be on the lookout for opportunities to unite with your peers against bullying! I know that the MHS Student Government is working on some great ideas for this month.
