'Cans for Cats' this Saturday, December 7

Milton High School will be holding a 'Cans for Cats' bottle and can drive to benefit MHS Athletics this Saturday, December 7th.  Redeemable bottles and cans will be collected by students at the MHS main entrance from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Please stop by and support your Wildcats with your can donations. Go Wildcats!

Fall Athletics Wrap-up; Winter Sports Start this Week

Winter sports started this week at Milton High School.  Below is the wrap-up of all of our fall sports:

Boys Cross Country (Coach Chuck Ajemian) had a final record of 3 wins and 8 losses. They finished 8th in their end-of-season league meet and competed in the state division meet on November 9, 2013.  The MHS Boys cross country finished their regular strong with a win at Braintree HS.

Girls Cross Country (Coach Tom Shaw) had a final record of 6 wins and 5 losses (first winning record for the team since 2009).  The team participated in the MIAA Division IV recently travelled to the MIAA Massachusetts All State Tournament in Gardner, Mass. Colette O’Leary and Mairead Dambruch were the top two finishers from Milton. The team finished 11th out of 185 teams in the State of Massachusetts. This was a great season for the Girls XC Team – Congrats to the Girls XC Team and Coaches Tom Shaw and Kerry Devin.
Football (Coach Jim Bowes) had a final record of 5 wins and 6 losses.  MHS Football made the MIAA Division III Southwest Tournament.  The team had back-to-back Thanksgiving Day victories in its rivalry with Braintree HS, winning this year's Thanksgiving game 27 - 13.  Bay State Conference 1st Team Herget All Stars: Calwyn Morris, Chula Loomis, Leroy Goodman, Jonathan Pierre, and Zach Mazzarella; Bay State Conference 2nd Team Honorable Mention: Alex Toyias


Golf (Coach Ben Kelly) The MHS Golf team finished their regular season with a record of 11 wins and 4 losses in the Bay State Conference.  This qualified the MHS golf team for the Mass State Tournament on Monday, October 21st at Easton CC.  The golf team finished 4th out of 12 golf teams.  Colin McCabe – Bay State Conference First Team All-Star; Walker Stroud – Bay State Conference Honorable Mention

Boys Soccer (Coach Mike Madden) had a final record of 4-13-1. Bay State Conference First Team All Star: Jonathan Cardoso (Also an Eastern Mass All Star Player). Bay State League Honorable Mention Team:  Matt Sweeney


Girls Soccer (Coach Brian Borde) had a final record of 7-9-2 (6-7-2 in Bay State Conference) Made the MIAA Division II South Sectional Tournament, beating Pembroke 3-1 in the first game, and losing to #1 seed Scituate (3-0) in their second game. Bay State Conference First team All Stars:  Sophomore Sophie Cousineau and Senior Claire Mahoney, Bay State Conference Honorable Mention team: Junior Kendall Stanley.


Volleyball (Coach Robin Lee) had a final record of 7 wins and 14 losses. Made the MIAA Division II Central Tournament, losing to Westborough 3-0. Bay State Conference First Team All Star:  Allison Grassa, Bay State Conference Honorable Mention Team: Meredith Kelly. Also, Girls Volleyball raised over $4,000 for Breast Cancer Research in the Dig Pink Fundraiser.

Boys Crew:  4-man crew team are 2013 Fall Crew Massachusetts State Champions (Aidan Cullinane, Jacob Savona, William Hess, Michael Ricciuti, Robert McCullough)
Girls Crew: 4-man team are #2 in the State of Massachusetts for 2013 Fall Crew (Shanaz Mahmood, Emma Heller, Kathryn Weidmann, Olivia Jensen, Meghan Donelan)
The boys’ varsity 8 came in 5th place and the girls’ varsity 8 came in 5th place. The girls’ novice 8 came in 17th place and the boys’ novice 8 came in 12th place.  These are the best results for Milton Crew at the MPSRA Fall State Championship regatta so far.

Cheerleading (Coach Jessica Parsons)
The cheerleading team kicked off their competition season at an invitational competition at Bridgewater Raynham HS.  The team did not place at the BRHS competition.

Field Hockey (Coach Jamie Donovan) had a final record of 2-14-1. Final Bay State League Record: 2-12-1. Congratulations to Bay State Conference First Team All Star Sophie Chase and Bay State Conference Second Team All Star (Honorable Mention):  Ally Jones.  The future is strong for MHS Field Hockey as the JV team finished with a winning record and the MHS Freshman team finished with a record of 12-2-2.


MHS Financial Aid Night - Wednesday, December 4, at 7 pm

On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 7:00 pm Christina Coviello, a MEFA Representative will be at Milton High School to give a financial aid presentation.  She will discuss the FAFSA as well as the CSS Profile.  She will also share tips and dispel any myths regarding the financial aid process.  The presentation will take place in the Charles Winchester Auditorium. 

This is open to any parent whether your child is a senior or not. It is never too early to start thinking and planning.

Students are welcome to attend too!
