The Boys Basketball finished the regular season with a 12-8 record and qualified for the MIAA Division 2 Tournament. After knocking off Boston English, Dennis-Yarmouth, Dorchester, and Wellesley they will now play in the Division 2 South Finals vs. Scituate on Saturday, March 9th at 4 pm at UMASS Boston.
The Girls Basketball Team finished with a record of 7-11. The Wildcats finished strong winning 6 of their last 10 games after starting the year 1-7.
BOYS ICE HOCKEY
The Boys’ Varsity Hockey Team qualified for the MIAA Division 1 Tournament with a 9-7-6 record. The lost in their opening round game to a tough Marshfield team.
GIRLS ICE HOCKEY
The Girls Varsity Hockey finished with a record of 10-8-2. They qualified for the MIAA Division 2 State Tournament where they lost 2-1 to Fontbonne on a late goal in the opening round.
BOYS INDOOR TRACK
The boys track team finished tied for first place in the Herget Division of BSL with a record of 4 and 1. The team finished 5th in Division 3 with Chivinskee Milcent placing 1st in long jump,4th in high jump and hurdles. Kareem Patterson placed 3rd in 55 meter dash. Both boys competed in All State Track Meet.
GIRLS INDOOR TRACK
The Girls Indoor Track Team finished the regular season with a 3-2 record. The girls also placed 4th out of 28 teams in the State Pentathlon. Molly Dempsey (SR) was 6 out of 124 participates, Angie Higgins (JR) was 26 overall and Zion Theodros (SO) was 82 overall. Angie Higgins also competed in the New England Championship this past weekend and finished 7th in the hurdles.
The Wrestling team had finished a great season with a 14-4 record. Peter Hailer and Jonathan Carrera finished first in their weight classes at the MIAA Sectionals, Keith Martin, Anton Libsch and Mark Chandler finished second and Zack Mazzarella finished fourth. All six wrestlers qualified for the MIAA States where Hailer and Carrera were State Finalists and both wrestled in the New England Wrestling Championships this past weekend in Providence, RI.
BOYS & GIRLS SKI TEAM
Three members of the Milton High School Ski Team, Sophie Chase, Lucas Campbell, Tori Zimmer, recently participated in the MIAA State Alpine Championships held at Berkshire East. Lucas Campbell and Sophie Chase turned-in solid performances in Giant Slalom and Slalom, but the afternoon race- honors belonged to Tori Zimmer when she delighted the crowd with a stunning 5th place finish in the Slalom competition.
Tori has been invited to join the 12 person roster for Team Mass alpine skiing in the Eastern High School Championships. This event will be at Cannon Mountain on Mar. 9 & 10. This is a semi-national event of some 15 to 20 states competing. This is Milton’s first participation in the 8 to 10 year history of the event.
Special thanks to the cheerleaders who rallied around our team and continue to cheer for the Boys’ Basketball team as they compete in the MIAA State tournament.
